Opting Out of Membership

Your Membership

When you enrol on a University of Northampton course, you automatically become a member of the Students' Union for the period which you are enrolled on that course. That brings with it a number of benefits. As a member you can:

  • Be a leader of one of our affiliated Sports Clubs
  • Be a leader of one of our affiliated Societies
  • Log in to our website and access additional services
  • Receive communications e-mails from the Students’ Union
  • Take on the role of an elected student leader
  • Vote in Students’ Union elections
  • Join one of our affiliated Sports Clubs (via a manual process)
  • Join one of our affiliated Societies (via a manual process)
  • Attend Students’ Union Events
  • Access the Students’ Union’s Academic Advice service

Opting Out

On rare occasions a student may wish to opt out of their Students' Union membership. If that is something you would like to do, there is a process in the section below that you can follow. Please be aware that by opting out of membership, you will be restricted in your ability to engage with the SU, as you will no longer have access to our democratic processes or our website. Students who have opted out can still:

  • Join one of our affiliated Sports Clubs (via a manual process)
  • Join one of our affiliated Societies (via a manual process)
  • Attend Students’ Union Events
  • Access the Students’ Union’s Academic Advice service

To join one of our student groups whilst opted out you will need to contact our reception in the Engine Shed in person, via phone (01604 892818) or via email ([email protected]).

 


The Opt Out Process

To opt out of your Students' Union membership, you will need to inform the University by completing the form here. Your Opt Out may take a few days to process. Please contact [email protected] if you have opted out and this has not been process within 5 working days.
