On Friday, the Students' Union is hosting a Volunteering Day in the Engine Shed, where you can find out about our fantastic Volunteering groups and the work they do.
Here is what's happening on the day!
Pets As Therapy (10am-2pm)
Do you love animals? Pets As Therapy is a national charity who enhance health and wellbeing in the community through the visits of trusted volunteers with their behaviourally-assessed animals.
Visit the Engine Shed to meet, touch and stroke our friendly team of dogs!
Feeling Crafty (10am-4pm)
Doing something crafty can be a great way to relax and let your creativity loose. Sometimes it can also be used to do some good!
We have a range of craft-based micro-volunteering activities in the Engine Shed which help to support good causes or promote wellbeing:
- Cranes for Cancer – have a go at making origami cranes to send positive thoughts to cancer patients.
- Post-pals – create cards with supportive messages to bring a smile to a sick child.
- Free Rice – complete word puzzles to donate rice to the World Food Programme.
- Art Rocks – paint stones then hide them – therapeutic and fun!
