Where have the 3 submission points gone?

We are hearing a lot of students are looking to use the emergency policy that introduced 3 ‘final deadlines’ that you could work towards, this enabled students to better manage time and other commitments in light of the coronavirus lockdown back in March 2020. We understand that students still need support to complete their studies due to the on-going need to manage home and academic life.

The 3 final deadline exception is no longer a separate policy and this adjustment has now been included in the Mitigating Circumstances policy; which is used when unforeseen conditions (including the issues, restrictions, and requirements of the pandemic) have more of a long term effect on your ability to complete and submit your work; and you need longer than two weeks to do so (should you only need an extra two weeks at first submission, you can request an extension via your Module Leader).

This policy has been adapted to replace the 3 submission points that were introduced in the last Academic Year, to make sure students get the right wrap-around support and so that the University can understand how many students need adjustments to plan for an extended period of marking or to highlight potential issues.

The best way for you to access the right adjustments for your studies is through applying for mitigating circumstances and should you require support in doing so the Students Union Welfare, Advice, and Support team, alongside the University’s Student Support & Advice Team are here to help you.

More information on mitigating circumstances can be found on the University’s website
