10 reasons to go on the Snowsports Ski Trip

10 reasons why you should go on the Northampton University Snowsports Trip

Here at UON Snowsports we’ve put together a list of our top 10 reasons why our next trip to Pas de la Casa is not to be missed. University ski trips really are one of a kind experiences, with so many happy memories to be made on the slopes. UON Snowsports is heading to Andorra this winter for a week packed full of fun; from the insane views on top of the mountains to the late night adventures in the local bars and clubs. We are pleased to be involved with NUCO’s main event week which will see hundreds of university students from across the country flood the slopes and celebrate the end of our first term!

1.     You make friends for life

Every year we have fresh faces join us on the trip so it’s a great opportunity to meet lots of people from various years, courses, and backgrounds. Our trip group is nice and small so you really get a chance to meet everyone properly and get to know each other before we set off. Snowsports are a really welcoming bunch so you are guaranteed to feel right at home with us even if you are new to the club. Our motto is the more the merrier so feel free to invite friends!

2.    It’s cheaper than your average ski trip

If you’ve ever been interested in skiing or boarding in the mountains then now is your chance to experience it for a fraction of the price of your normal trip! We are keeping this year's trip as accessible as possible by heading to Pas de la Casa, a tax haven based in Andorra with famously cheap drinks and food. All of our UK lessons are completely free so make the most of them before we set off to get comfortable on the snow. Average trip price including equipment hire is £500.

3.    Apres ski is unreal

There’s nothing that compares to the buzz of apres ski, having a dance and a drink with your mates after a long day on the slopes. With stunning 360 degree views, big mountainside parties, live music and so much more it really is an experience not to be missed!

4.    The snow

Although this one sounds obvious we think it's important to mention how good the conditions are at this time of year. Expect fresh powder which makes for really easy skiing thanks to the colder temperatures and higher snowfall. Last winter there was so much snow we spent the last day sledging and having snowball fights - a very wholesome way to end the trip. For the adventurous members Pas has several snowparks and jumps open late where you can practice until 10pm!

5.    Nightlife

With plenty of bars and venues scattered around Pas there are lots of options for nights out, not to mention our trip falling in the week of NUCO’s main event. This means you can look forward to a bustling resort, incredible DJ’s and partying until the early hours. Nightlife ranges from irish bars and underground clubs to your classic pubs, you can even pick up a cheeky McDonalds after your night out to help the hangover and make sure you’re up and out the next morning.

6.    The extras

It’s not all slopes and seshing, NUCO our trip providers host a tasty all you can eat rib shack meal which is always so much fun. After spending the week in self catered accommodation you really can’t go wrong with this meal, brilliant food and even better company so we can’t complain!

7.    You CAN teach an old dog new tricks

Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, Pas de la Casa really meets everyone's needs. The resort is covered with nice wide blue runs meaning newbies have easy slopes to get used to, whilst also catering for the more experienced members with steep blacks and plenty of areas for great off piste skiing. The resort is also home to an indoor freestyle centre kitted out with foam pits - the perfect place to learn new tricks.

8.    De-stress

This trip is the perfect opportunity to give yourself a break from the work you’ve been smashing in the first term and relax into the christmas holidays. Use it as a reward for working hard and it will feel like you’ve earnt this week away, you deserve it. Uni can be stressful so getting that work-life balance is so important! There is little more calming than gliding down beautiful mountains with big blue skies and your friends by your side.

9.    The views

Did someone say instagrammable? The photos speak for themselves in this gorgeous resort. Pas is a prime location for the most pretty pictures that will make your friends at home wish they signed up! With Coll Blanc serving us aliens meet Andorra vibes it's arguably one of the best spots for photos in the whole resort and we can’t wait to flood your feeds with pictures.

10.    It’s got to be done at least once

University is a time to make the most of opportunities, socialise, have fun and make memories. You come home calling what was, originally a bunch of strangers, your closest pals and you share so many happy times with them, not just on the trip but back home too. There aren’t many years of university so don’t miss out on what will inevitably be one of the best weeks of your life. After being on the trip you really do feel a part of the crazy family of snow lovers not to mention you’ll be desperate for the next years trip! Give yourself a chance to fall in love with Snowsports and find out what the hype is all about, you’ll kick yourself for not joining sooner!
