The University of Northampton is looking for staff and student volunteers to help Scrubs Up For Northants NHS – a voluntary group that supplies non-surgical scrubs to NHS staff in the county.
We have plenty of linen, dyed at the University, which would make about 30 sets of scrubs, and these are intended for use by GPs and care homes.
There is also approximately 500 metres of patterned and bright fabric for tunic tops, patch pockets and sleeves. To coordinate with black/brown material for scrub bottoms, we have bright, fun patterned material, for specific GPs and care homes.
In addition, we have other pre-cut fabric to make a further 200 sets of scrubs which have been ordered by Northampton General Hospital.
The scrubs we make at the University will be delivered to Northampton General Hospital, Kettering General Hospital, local GP surgeries, community health care workers and care homes.
Volunteer skill levels required:
• Ironing of material (dyed material will need ironing before cutting)
• Cutting skills in order to cut out scrub sets in sizes 3XL and 4XL, patterns will be provided
• Sewing skills from beginner to intermediate (there are no advance techniques needed).
