Key Dates

Interested in running? Be sure to make note of these key dates so that you don't miss out!

 

Candidate Academy: February 13, 6-8pm (in LH017)

Want to find out more about what the Elections are all about? The Candidate Academy is your perfect opportunity to do this! You'll be able to get tips on how to campaign and also what you'll get out of it if you run for a position. NB: There are limited spaces available, so if you're interested, please email [email protected].

 

Nominations Open: February 18, 9am

Time to nominate! It's time to make sure your manifesto is written and ready to go. You'll need to submit your nomination through the SU website.

 

Nominations close: February 24, 5pm

This is your last chance to submit! Be sure not to miss this deadline, as we can't accept anything submitted after this point.

 

Candidate Briefing (option 1): February 25, 10am-12pm (in Owl's Nest)

This is a mandatory meeting that all candidates standing in the Election must attend – we'll be going over all the rules plus other important information that you need to know before you can begin campaigning. There are two available dates to attend and you only need to attend one. Please be aware that you can't campaign until you have attended one of the briefings!

Please note, you only need to attend a Candidate Briefing if you are running for one of the following roles: Sabbatical Officer, Part-Time Officer, Student Trustee, NUS Delegate. You do not need to attend if you are running for any of the following: Faculty Advocate, MSA Committee roles, Non-Portfolio Councillor, any Student Group Committee role.  

 

Candidate Briefing (option 2): February 25, 6pm-8pm (in Morley Room)

This is the second date available for you to attend the briefing. Remember that you can't campaign until you have attended one of the briefings!

Please note, you only need to attend a Candidate Briefing if you are running for one of the following roles: Sabbatical Officer, Part-Time Officer, Student Trustee, NUS Delegate. You do not need to attend if you are running for any of the following: Faculty Advocate, MSA Committee roles, Non-Portfolio Councillor, any Student Group Committee role.  

 

Question Time: February 26, 7pm (Engine Shed)

Time to campaign! All candidates need to present themselves and explain their plans for if they won office! It will also be when the Q&As take place. It is compulsory for all candidates who are running to be a Sabbatical Officer, Part-Time Officer, NUS Delegate and/or Student Trustee to attend this session.

Please note, you only need to attend a Question Time if you are running for one of the following roles: Sabbatical Officer, Part-Time Officer, Student Trustee, NUS Delegate. You do not need to attend if you are running for any of the following: Faculty Advocate, MSA Committee roles, Non-Portfolio Councillor, any Student Group Committee role.  

 

Question Time: February 27, 3pm (Avenue Students' Union)

Time to campaign! The second Question Time session – this time, at Avenue Students' Union. Again, this is only for candidates who are running to be a Sabbatical Officer, Part-Time Officer, NUS Delegate and/or Student Trustee. 

Please note, you only need to attend a Question Time if you are running for one of the following roles: Sabbatical Officer, Part-Time Officer, Student Trustee, NUS Delegate. You do not need to attend if you are running for any of the following: Faculty Advocate, MSA Committee roles, Non-Portfolio Councillor, any Student Group Committee role.  

 

Mini-husting - Education Committee: February 28, 6pm (Engine Shed)

For candidates running for the VP Education position, they must attend an additional husting with the Education Committee. This will take place Thursday 28th Feb, from 6pm in the Engine Shed. 

 

Mini-husting - AU Committee: February 28, 6pm (location tbc)

For candidates running for the VP Union Development and Sports Officer positions, they must attend an additional husting with the Athletic Union (AU) Committee. This will take place Thursday 28th Feb, from 6pm. Location tbc. 

 

Mini-husting - Societies Committee, February 28, 6pm (Engine Shed)

For candidates running for the VP Union Development and Societies Officer positions, they must attend an additional husting with the Societies Committee. This will take place Thursday 28th Feb, from 7pm in the Engine Shed. 

 

Mini-husting - Volunteering and Social Enterprise (VSEC) Committee: February 28, 6pm (Engine Shed)

For candidates running for the VP Union Development and Changemaker Officer positions, they must attend an additional husting with the Volunteer and Social Enterprise Committee. This will take place Thursday 28th Feb, from 7pm in the Engine Shed. 

 

Voting opens: March 4, 9am (via the SU website)

Time to vote! All members of the Students' Union will be able to vote via the SU website, and polling stations will also be available on Waterside and Avenue Campuses.

 

Voting closes: March 5, 6pm (via the SU website)

This is your last chance to cast your vote!

 

Results: March 8th, from 6pm (Engine Shed)
