About Football (Women's)
Women’s football is a friendly and fun football team who welcome players of all abilities as well as people who just wish to attend our socials. We previously won Team of the Year in 2015 and was nominated for Club of the Year in 2018. We regularly compete in BUCS league games and hold socials every Wednesday at Balloon Bar, in which we have a laugh no matter what the game score is!
We hold regular training sessions that focus on fitness and skills on a Monday evening on the 4G all weather pitch on Waterside Campus, 6pm – 7:30pm, meeting at the Engine Shed at 5:45pm. We have a regular coach who attends training sessions and aids the delivery of sessions as well as helping the girls prepare for our matches!
Our club consists of 5 committee members; Captain, President, Secretary, Social Sec and Treasurer.
Lizzie Eaton – Captain
Lizzie has been a member of Women’s Football for 3 years, being captain for 2 of those. As captain, she wears the captain’s hat and when she saw Northampton, she said I fancy that! As captain, she is in charge of ensuring there is a team every Wednesday for matches on and off the pitch and assists our coach in running the training sessions.
Kayleigh Gardener – President
This is Kayleigh’s 2nd year of being part of Women’s Football and 1st year being President. As President, she ensures there is a venue available for our Wednesday matches and attends regular AU meetings to discuss varying issues within the sporting societies as well as updating the team on sporting events.
Katie Ellis – Secretary
This is Katie’s 2nd year of being a member of Women’s Football and 1st year of completing the Secretarial role. As Secretary, she is responsible for ensuring the club is updated on important emails, taking minutes at meetings and organising kit that club members may wish to order.
Charlotte Sumner – Social Sec
This is Charlotte’s 2nd year of being a member of Women’s Football and 1st year of being Social Sec. As Social Sec, she is responsible for running socials every Wednesday and ensuring the girls have a great time regardless of the match score from the day, including organising the weekly themes and social games. As Social Sec, there is no pressure to drink alcohol as we regularly organise Sober Socials to ensure everyone feels welcome!
Eve Simmons – Treasurer
Eve has been a member of Women’s Football for 3 years and has taken up the role of Treasurer in the past year. As Treasurer, she is responsible for the management of the clubs account and money, including the booking of pitches, coaches and travel to away matches.
We have several social media accounts that are regularly updated, which can be found at:

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.
A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students’ Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
