About United Amayi Society
United Amayi Society at the University of Northampton. A group of like-minded students interest in the empowerment of women in Malawi through education. Regular events including talks, socials and fundraising events
The aim of this society is to showcase and bring to light to the inspiring works and attributes of the United Amayi Organisation. This is a registered charity organisation which aims to provide education, employment and enterprise opportunities for disadvantaged women in Malawi by providing schools, workplace and agricultural training and business opportunities for the women to improve their livelihood and skills, therefore creating a way out of the poverty cycle.
This society's objectives include providing students of the university who are driven and interested in enhancing social, economic and environmental change in the world, the opportunity to work with the organisation, gain experience and boost an interest in the not-for-profit world. We will also host events and talks from various impact makers including the founder herself on how to start your own organisation, tips on employability skills needed in the impact world and other useful but fun workshops for our members.
We will be able to build strong relationships with other societies of the university such as the geography society or the economics society we hope to collaborate on future events and fundraisers which can impact our members.
We also hope to build strong networks and contacts with guest speakers and also event locations all around Northampton. We will provide volunteering opportunities with the organization's fundraisers and other admin duties which will provide adequate experiences for our members to add to their CVs.
To learn more about the charity visit:
All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.
A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students’ Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
